Established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the University stands among the foremost veterinary institutions in the state, dedicated to advancing veterinary science, animal husbandry, and allied research. With a strong constituent college as its founding pillar, the University has grown into a center of academic excellence, innovative research, and community-focused extension work.
Our mission is to nurture skilled veterinary professionals, promote sustainable livestock systems, and contribute to animal welfare and food security through quality education, research, and outreach.

In 1998, was elected from Mandal assembly constituency Ahmedabad, and became MLA. From 1998 to 2002, was the Minister of Education (primary, secondary, and adult) and Minister of Women & Child Welfare.
In 2002, became the legislator from Patan Vidhan Sabha constituency for the second time and proved the belief wrong that the Gujarat Education Minister cannot win consecutive elections. Was Minister of Education, Higher and Technical Education, Women and Child Welfare, and Sports, Youth and Cultural Activity from 2002 till 2007.

India's dairy sector grows 4-5% a year; this college trains dairy technocrats through a 4-year B.Tech in Dairy Technology, established 2024-25.
A pioneer in Diploma Programmes for para-veterinary human resource, training students to support veterinarians in primary animal healthcare.
