Department of Aquatic Animal Health Management

Established in 2024 with the establishment of the College of Fisheries, DUVASU, Mathura, the Department of Aquatic Animal Health Management is an integral academic and research unit dedicated to the health, disease prevention and sustainable management of fish and other aquatic animals.

The department is engaged in teaching, practical training and research in aquatic animal diseases, diagnosis, pathology, microbiology, parasitology, immunology, molecular diagnostics and biosecurity.

With the increasing intensification of aquaculture, the department focuses on understanding the causes, diagnosis, prevention and management of aquatic diseases, along with the influence of water quality, nutrition, environmental stress and culture practices on animal health.

Through classroom teaching, laboratory practicals, field exposure and research, the department develops skilled professionals capable of addressing emerging health challenges in fisheries and aquaculture.

Its academic and research activities emphasize disease surveillance, biosecurity and science-based health management, while providing technical knowledge and solutions for healthy, productive and sustainable aquaculture.

The department envisions becoming a centre of excellence in aquatic animal health and disease management through quality education, scientific research and practical training, contributing to healthy and sustainable aquaculture and developing competent professionals to address emerging health challenges.
